WELCOME TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

It's always fun to see our returning families and exciting to meet new ones. We hope you had an enjoyable summer. A fantastic new school year is here, and we at Adventure Time Glenview are ready to offer a fun and safe environment for your kids. Our wonderful teachers are back for another year of amazing art projects, crafts, games, sports, Homework Heroes, and so much more. Come meet our staff.

SUPER SEPTEMBER THEMES AND ACTIVITIES
We began the school year with Getting To Know You Week. We taught the kids how to make creative hand mirrors and necklaces, and make fancy name tags and colorful welcome signs. We designed our own name tags, stickers, personal journals, and scrapbooks. The second week was Fantastic Families. We made family albums and family drawings. The children worked with wooden paintings, and bean and seed collages, and enjoyed making pretty picture frames. Potpourri was our third week. We made window pictures, created wonderful smelling potpourri and lavender bags, and helped the kids make soap. We were kept busy teaching the kids how to make salt dough bowls. Kaleidoscope of Colors was the last week of the month when the children created colorful windsocks and rainbow hangings. We made friendship bracelets, interesting rosebud balls, and created fun mobiles.

OUTSTANDING OCTOBER THEMES AND ACTIVITIES
The first week of October is Harvest, and we will make yummy fruit salad and a funny scarecrow. We will make Harvest cookies and leaf colors and refrigerator magnets. The second week, Flower Fun, will see the children making flower pails and picture frames. We will be busy with planting in pots, and Sculpey Clay flower magnets. The children will also create framed pictures. We begin the third week of Ghosts and Goblins with the sewing of ghost pillows and pop-up ghosts, and we will make Halloween decorations for the room and boo masks. Next we will create witches and ghosts and bats and crows. The last two weeks of October we have our Haunted Halloween theme. We are busy with hand painting and crazy mask making, fun trick-or-treat bags and Halloween Shrinky Dinks. We will have fun with mini-pumpkins, fancy hats, crowns, and wands. Lastly, will have fun with arm painting and spider rings.

HOMEWORK HEROES
Encourage your kids to join our Homework Heroes Club. Every afternoon, the teachers announce the HHC. We have a Homework Heroes table where they can work peacefully, and a teacher is always available when they need help. After homework is completed for the day, a teacher signs each child's HHC sheet, and the students earn stickers, certificates, prizes and special treats along the way. We want to help each child get into the habit of studying and completing their homework. This is a fun way to encourage everyone to do homework. Check out our HHC board.

OUTDOOR SPORTS
We play a variety of outdoor games like four-square, jump rope, wallball, Chinese skip, and many more. On Wednesday afternoons, we have a special Sports Day. We announce our featured sport a few days before, and we have a sign-up list for the children. Sports Day games we have played in the past include dodge ball, basketball, kickball, tennis, baseball, and soccer, among others. On Fridays, we have an awards day when we recognize good sportsmanship and teamwork. The kids who participated get special prizes and treats.

Please be sure your Emergency Packet is filled out and kept up to date. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Be safe this Halloween!
